Dear Classmates:

Can you believe that it is almost 2020? It seems like the Class of 68 just turned 68. Now most of us are staring the big 7-0 right in the face during the coming year.

I do have some news. There will be a change to our Class of 1968 website on December 7th. We have the option of continuing to pay a subscription fee of several hundred dollars per year, or going subscription free with advertisements beginning on the 7th. The Committee has opted for the latter, so you will see ads in the future when using the site. The good news is that all the pictures, surveys, music and updates will still be available.

We do encourage you to continue to access the website. You can update status, enter News from Senior Row (classmate birthdays are noted) and relive the experiences from our Reunion.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all.

Chuck Matheson

Obituary of Joan StretchThe NCHS Class of 1968 has lost another beloved classmate.  Joan Vance Stretch passed away suddeny on April 9, 2019.  It appers that she passed away in her sleep, possibly from a stroke or a pulmonary embolism.  Joanie was still teaching English Literature at Charlotte Catholic High School in Charlotte, NC and she was loved by all the students and teachers at the school, as well as everyone who knew her.  Joanie's kindness and fun, loving personality has affected many.  She will live on in our hearts and memories forever.  Her smile was infectious, as was her laughter.  Joanie's husband, Ron, passed away 12 years ago.  She is survived by her son Chris and his wife Alex.  Her full obituary can be viewed at

Thank you to everyone who submitted entries to the Bio Book!  If you did, and were not at reunion to receive your copy, we will be sending you one shortly.  If you were not able to attend reunion, but would like a copy, please email Ann at and she will send you one. (Limited quantity - first come, first serve, and free!)

Update on Menu selections

(1) The Reunion video has been moved to Vimeo, which the class of 67 used. It seems to be working. Please give it a try.

(2) The NCHS '68 Turns 68 Playlist may not work unless the browser has Adobe Flash. You will not be able to use an iPhone, which prohibits the Flash add-in.
