Jon Connor (-)

Bruce Jones has informed us that Jon passed early July, 2022 of cancer.  Per Bruce "Jon had a very successful construction company in Lyons, CO.  He was working an a project at that time and for some reason decided not to tell anyone about his condition.  So a complete shock.  Mike Folda was the person who let me know.

Jon's older sister and daughter came out from California and had all of his local friends over for a really nice celebration of his life at his beautiful home in Lyons

Mike Folda, Jon and I have lived in the same part of Colorado (Boulder county) so we have been close all this time...

Hank WHitsett (NCHS '67) added that Jon is survived by his former wife, daughter and grandchildren in addition to his sister.

Last saw Jon, and other friends, us hanging out on the Cherry Street wall at the library; spring 1964. That remained memorable. I drew it in 2021, for those trying to preserve and repurpose the 1913 library and trees. We had fun talking.

Damn....another great loss. My happiest memory of Jon was from back in elementary school. We were undefeated in chicken fights. He carried me on his back and my only job was to grab other people while he did all the work. He was a big, strong, personality and I'm glad to have shared some time on this planet with him.

Jon was at the heart of a good group.

Hearing your name has brought back memories of living up in the mountains and the summer parties at the cabin.

My best (bud) even after high school.....   we hung together. I'm so sad deep down , cause I couldn't find him anywhere,  and then his Mom died , ten of us cleaned out the house! And then

We lost touch ......  me being where I live, I just couldn't get any info , I thought he might be in Mexico?

I loved you man!

I have a few memories of Jon, the first starting in kindergarten, believe it or not. What I remember is Jon fighting with Piel Pennington during nap time. For those who were at South School - I am thinking Betsy Mills or Skip S. and others - that kindergarten section was off to the left of the main entrance. Jon was also a good football player for Mr. Rice's 5th & 6th grade teams - he may even have been the QB, with Scotty Briggs and Charlie as running backs? And in high school - I remember he had a Mercedes Benz sports car? I hope he had a great life in Colorado!
