George D Reynolds III

George David Reynolds III, age 66, formerly of Victoria BC passed away on June 25, 2017 in Bellwood PA.  He was the son of the late George D and Barbara P Reynolds, formerly of New Canaan CT and State College PA.  He is survived by his sister Jane (Ronald) Schulten, nephews Keeler and Trevor (Karissa) Schulten, grand-niece Audrielle and many loving cousins.

George was never happier than when he was exploring the woods and ponds growing up in Connecticut. Following his graduation from Defiance College, he took his love of

and the outdoors on a career filled with science and exploration.  As a meteorological and environmental consultant, he spent a number of summers on the Canadian arctic islands of Devon, Bathurst and Ellesmere, managing field work for the Universities of Massachusetts, Guelph and Alberta.  In 1982, he was the principal investigator and one of the first scientists conducting research for the University of Washington on Mt. St. Helens following its eruption.  For many years, he resided in Victoria BC working as a consultant on the Alberta Oil Sands for the Canadian Ministry of Forests and Ministry of Environment, Lands and Parks.

Always a collector of animals wild and tame, George loved training his beloved dog Jigger and participated in field and retrieving trials with the Labrador Retriever Club of Victoria BC. He enjoyed traveling, gardening, camping and was an avid fisherman.  No services were held.

“Keep close to Nature's heart... and break clear away once in a while, and climb a mountain or spend a week in the woods. Wash your spirit clean. The clearest way into the Universe is through a forest wilderness.” John Muir
